Couric: Can you name a few?
Palin: I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news, too. Alaska isn't a foreign country where it's kind of suggested, it seems like, 'Wow, how could you keep in touch with the rest of Washington DC, maybe thinking and doing when you live up there in Alaska?' Believe me, Alaska is like a microcosm of America.

just so you know.

me: sometimes i hate our newsroom
Zac: this is epic
me: an announcement like this bill failing should have at least some people talking
and we're all just quiet and eating our soups at our desks
oh ho hum dow dropped 600 points munch on my sandwich yadda yadda
fuck
Zac: hahaha
me: what the hell has happened to us?
Zac: good news is that this will destroy the republicans. it will become a massacre
me: which i am thrilled about
but why do people not care about this?!
at least within the newsroom
they seem smart
Zac: because they don't understand the economy
nobody does
nobody realizes that if GM doesn't get $25m, they will put fewer vehicles on the lots and local dealers will sell fewer cars and there will be fewer ads taken out in the paper and there will be fewer jobs in the newsroom
and that's just car sales. my 401k has tanked this year
just in the last two months
me: damn
Zac: I was up a fairly good amount and then have lost tons of money
me: i didn't diversify at all, really, which maybe i'm okay about...
Zac: after the freddy and fannie bailout and brandon's yelling I moved most of my stuff into the equity fund and foreign markets
hahaha
me: haha
thank god for brandon's yelling
Zac: yeah. I also have some gold ounces that heidi and I have for various life moments from family. once that hits $1k I'm selling those
hahaha
burying the cash
hahaha
me: hahaha
smart plan!
Zac: it's at 904 right now
me: you are a thinker!
Zac: heidi wanted to sell at 900
I told her to wait, everything will fall apart
hahaha
me: and here it is
falling apart
Zac: yes
me: and everybody's just eating their tuna sandwiches
jesus christ
Zac: hahaha
Zac: -650
me: wait do i fill up my gas tank now or wait for the apocalypse?
Zac: don't buy gas. buy gold
and walk
a lot
hahaha

on LOLing

Mitchell: hey
do you ever "lol" online?
i don't think you have with me
me: um no
although sometime i actually do laugh out loud
and then i say
"man! that made me laugh in front of people"
or something along those lines
Mitchell: but never
LOL
me: uh no
Mitchell: you think you're too kewl for s'cool
me: it's against my sensibilities
haha
(see i can do that, the "haha" which doesn't imply an actual out-loud laugh, but the fact that i found what you just typed to be amusing)
