a friend and i discuss the methodology...
Almarie: As I was looking at the many quizzes one could take on FB
I began to think about our society and culture
as a disclaimer this i thought of before taking the quiz'
the quiz just reminded me
It reminded me of how
much we seek to find out who we are through various venues
how we rely on others to tell us who we are
to identify ourselves
just look at the reason these quizzes are so successful
ppl are seeking to find out who they are. This is beyond the fact that they are "meaninglessly" entertaining
There is one more thing I want to say about this
It's the fact, that one looks to be identified in almost very area of their lives
"who are you in the workplace"
"how do you compare to others in (fill in the blank)"
What would you do (probably referring to your future)
kim: you're right. people try to fill the void, or silence, or unforeseeable with these quizzes. what we want most in life is predictability. we want to know who we are going to fall in love with, so there's a quiz for that. we want to know when we're going to die, and even how, so there are quizzes for that, too. we are so frightened of our own potential that we will do anything to reign it into a tiny structured box.
